Hyperpigmentation and Melasma refers to a brown discoloration on face, upper lip or other area of the body. It can be caused by a combination of sun exposure, genetics and hormones.
There are a variety of treatments available for hyperpigmentation and response varies based on the pigment’s depth (deeper pigment is harder to remove) and whether causative factors can be reduced. For example, repeated sun exposure can cause a recurrence.
Hyperpigmentation can be treated with Chemical Peels, Microderm Abrasion, or laser therapy. Similar to the laser treatments used for acne control and rosacea.
Laser treatment targets brown and red spots in the skin. The laser light targets the melanin, heating and diffusing it and causing the body to produce new cells in place o fthe damaged ones. The procedure leaves the treated area looking healthy and refreshed.
The laser treatment skin rejuvenation procedure is safe and effective for almost all skin types. All procedures are performed by our board certified physicians.
Conditions and results vary among patients. As a general rule, two or three treatments produce the best results.
